Today, it extends far beyond garment production to encompass digital innovation, sustainability, artificial intelligence, smart manufacturing, consumer experience, and global supply chain management. As Bangladesh continues to play a pivotal role in the international apparel market, the responsibility of higher education is not only to produce skilled graduates but also to develop visionary professionals capable of leading the industry's next phase of transformation. The Department of Fashion Design & Technology offers a comprehensive Bachelor of Science (Honours) program that integrates fashion design, apparel product development, textile science, pattern engineering, garment manufacturing technology, merchandising, quality management, sourcing, fashion marketing, retail management, sustainability, and global compliance. Our curriculum is designed to combine rigorous academic study with extensive practical training, ensuring that students graduate with the technical expertise, creative confidence, and professional competencies required by the global fashion and apparel industry. At FDT, learning extends well beyond the classroom. Students engage in laboratory practice, design studios, project-based learning, industrial visits, internships, workshops, seminars, and collaborative activities with industry professionals. These experiences enable them to transform creative ideas into practical solutions while developing critical thinking, teamwork, communication skills, and professional ethics. Research and innovation are central to our academic vision. Our faculty members are actively engaged in research addressing some of the most significant challenges and opportunities facing the fashion industry today. Current research encompasses sustainable fashion design, circular fashion systems, artificial intelligence in fashion, 3D fashion design and virtual prototyping, augmented reality for fashion applications, digital product development, smart apparel manufacturing, fashion consumer behaviour, and emerging technologies that are redefining the global fashion landscape. We actively encourage our students to participate in research, innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration, fostering an academic culture driven by curiosity, creativity, and evidence-based problem-solving.
